The Lake of the Ozarks is known for many different reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is the outstanding school systems here at The Lake of the Ozarks. Both School of the Osage and Camdenton rank 7 out of 10 on the Best School Scale. School of the Osage has a total of four schools in the community. The most recent addition is Heritage Elementary school located at 1501 School Rd. This completely renovated school building features state of the art technology. The school’s network is completely wireless and teachers’ desktop computers were replaced with Macbook Air laptops and each room has iPad’s for the students. (Field) School of the Osage also has an Upper Elementary School, Middle School, and the High School. Camdenton Schools are also known for their academic excellence and state of the art facilities. Camdenton has nine different schools serving the Lake area and they are finishing construction on the new Osage Beach Elementary. The schools here at the Lake are fantastic and provide a great education to every student.
Since the Lake is one of the number one tourist destinations in the Mid West we have the luxury of fantastic shopping. The biggest shopping attraction is the Osage Beach Premium Outlet Mall in Osage Beach featuring over 100 outlet stores including Loft, GAP, Polo, and Nike. More recently we have added Dicks Sporting Goods, Bed Bath Beyond, with Dollar Tree’s grand opening on January 14th! There is also a lot more shopping at Prewitt’s Point, Eagles Landing, and Blair’s Landing as well. One thing is for sure if you love to shop, you will love living at the Lake!
The Lake of the Ozarks is abundant in nature and state parks. In fact The Lake of the Ozarks State Park is the largest state park in the state boasting 85 miles of shoreline. The Lake of the Ozarks State Park has something for the entire family featuring, camping, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Another great place to go enjoy nature is Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Ha Ha Tonka features ancient castle ruins, great hiking, public access ramp, and a spring. Be sure to check out the state parks website for event details. If you love boating, you will not have a problem finding different places to put your boat in the water with nine different public access ramps, plus dozens more private access ramps. There are also several small rivers and streams nearby that are great for canoeing, kayaking, and rafting. You will never find yourself bored at The Lake of the Ozarks because there is so much to do year around.
Entertainment is definitely something the Lake does not lack. There are dozens of waterfront restaurants that have live bands and dancing on a regular basis plus, we have the annual Bootlegger Idol for local singers to enter for a chance to win a cash prize. Recently Wehrenberg theaters opened a new theater here at the Lake with eight screens, stadium seating, and every Tuesday is $5 dollar movie day! The Main Street Music Hall always has a fantastic show as well. There is a variety of family friendly attractions here at the Lake such as; Big Surf, mini golfing, go carts, and so much more. Don’t miss the Magic Dragon car shows that happen several times a year and the annual Bike Fest on the Strip. There are also two big boat races here at the Lake that are fun to watch, the Lake Race (International Performance Boat Race) in May and June and the annual Lake Shootout in August.
