With the hustle and bustle of Christmas in full swing it can be very hard to decide how to spend the weekends leading up to Christmas when there are so many events happening daily at the Lake. One thing is for sure, the Lake comes alive during Christmas so there is no reason to let the kids get bored. This weekend is going to be a busy one because there are parades, multiple appearances of Santa, huge charity events, and Christmas music shows. It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful as well with a high of 52 degrees on Friday and 60 degrees on Saturday, and its mid December! So be sure to get the whole family out and enjoy all the holiday festivities and the weather before winter arrives. For your convenience we have a Pinterest board strictly dedicated to the holiday festivities going on at the Lake, be sure to follow it for more events and details.
Christmas for Kids
One of the biggest and most well known charity events that happen around Christmas time here at the Lake is Christmas for Kids. All of the proceeds raised during this event go to help make sure underprivileged children in the Lake area have Christmas gifts, and the remaining proceeds are given to CADV (Citizens Against Domestic Violence), local food pantry, Wonderland Camp, Hope House, and the Big Brother Big Sister program. Christmas for Kids has a way for everyone to get involved! This Sunday December, 14th at 7:00pm at the Lodge of Four Seasons Campana Hall, Christmas for Kids will host a benefit featuring Spontaneous Serendipity and Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. There will be a cash bar, silent auction, and hors d’oeuvres, and is sure to be a night full of fun, and it is only $15 with the donation of a toy or a $35 donation without a toy. For those of you who cannot make it out to the benefit there are tons of ways to get involved. Monday the 15th after the benefit they will need volunteers at 11am to “build the toy shop” (sort the toys by gender and age), and then shop for additional toys needed to fill children’s wishes. The best part of the night is the wrapping party from 2pm-5pm! They will need lots of volunteers and be sure to BYOS (bring your own scissors). All of Monday’s festivities will also be located in the Campana Hall at the Lodge as well. Finally, on Tuesday December 16th you can sign up to work a shift distributing toys at Campana Hall any time between 8am-6pm. This is a fantastic way to not just enjoy spending time with family and friends, but to also be a part of a great cause and make sure children at the Lake have a great Christmas!
The annual Christmas Magic Parade is this Saturday, December 13th at 1pm. The parade will start at the intersection of HH and Hwy 242 and head down Bagnell Dam Blvd. toward the dam. Santa and Mrs. Clause will be the main attraction of the parade and his red sleigh will have over 2000 Christmas lights and lots of garland! The School of the Osage High School marching band will be featured along with other local groups, scouts, and business floats. This is sure to be fun for the entire family and it’s free. After the parade is over Santa will be available for pictures at The White House on Bagnell Dam Blvd. There will also be cookies and hot chocolate for all who are waiting in line to see Santa, and all the children who stop to see Santa will get a FREE stocking! Everything is expected to be over by 3pm so everyone can spend the evening with family. Don’t miss the Christmas Magic Parade; it will be lots of fun for the entire family!
Say Hi To Santa
Santa is staying quite busy this holiday season, and there are many places you can take your kids to see him around the Lake area, and to see all of those opportunities be sure to follow our holiday activities board on Pinterest. The best opportunity to come out and see Santa is this Sunday, December 14th at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Salon C from 11am-2pm, for the 7th Annual Relay for Life Breakfast with Santa! The event is sponsored by the Yellow Rose Relay for Life Team and all proceeds raised will be donated to The American Cancer Society. The breakfast only cost $5 dollars per person (children under 1 free), and that includes breakfast, Christmas music performances, and dancing. There will also be tons of crafts for the children included in the $5 admission fee; cookie decorating, crafts, Christmas card designing, Christmas color pages, and writing letters to Santa. There will also be a silent auction and they ask you to bring a book or toy that will be donated to Christmas for Kids. The only extra cost for the day is pictures with Santa for an additional $5. Not only is this sure to be three hours of fun for the kids, but all the proceeds go to a great cause, and where else can you buy breakfast for $5 a person? Get the whole family out this Sunday to see Santa!
